The Arabic language is more than just words—it is identity, culture, and a deep-rooted connection for 20% of the country’s citizens. Yet, the Israeli establishment’s neglect of Arabic makes me, as an Arab, feel invisible, unwanted—belonging yet not belonging. This tension between presence and erasure is at the core of my project.
By manipulating large quantities of Arabic typography, using various materials and scales, I expose the way Arabic is disregarded in public spaces. Letters are stretched, distorted, fragmented—mirroring the establishment’s contempt and apathy toward the language. But apathy itself is an attitude—silence is not neutral. Through this project, I reclaim visibility, reminding that language is power, and erasing it is never just an accident.
